I have been dying to meet Luke since I met him in the first 2 installments. I knew he was quiet and had a lot going on, I just had no idea how much. If you love reads that are raw and gritty, and honestly a little depressing this is a book (and series) you’ll want to pick up. While I liked Luke and Violet together this installment didn’t blow me away like Jessica Sorensen’s novels typically do. I still really, really loved it, but it was not a 5 star home run for me.

Why? Well I can tell you that the damaged characters certainly were there, but there was something that felt a little cliche about the two of them. The abuse just didn’t ring totally true for me. Maybe it’s my practical side, but it just didn’t jive or flow. Both Luke and Violet’s pasts were too over the top for me. I won’t spoil exactly what they went through because part of what makes this story is the slow reveal.

The other part that was hard for me to swallow was the massive coincidence at the end. There was just no way it could have worked out like that. I did see the foreshadowing so I could feel it coming, and while it was big I just didn’t buy it. Now, for the sake of the story it makes everything end on a massive cliff hanger. These two have a ton to work out to get their HEA, and it’s clear it’s going to be tough because 3 of the books in this series are theirs.

What did I love? Luke. Oh man…he is hot and cocky and sad and damaged and just wants to love and be loved even though he doesn’t know it at first. *takes a breath* Yes, I love Luke and all his baggage. His interaction with Violet is full of chemistry and curiosity from the start, on both sides. It started slowly but gained momentum and was fragile even though it was moving ahead.

Rec this? Yes! While it wasn’t my favorite Jessica Sorensen book, it was still fantastic and part of a great series. If you love sad, yet healing journeys this is a great add for your TBR.

Happy reading!

The Destiny of Violet Luke The Coincidence Book 3 edition by Jessica Sorensen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

"Happiness isn't real. It's make-believe."

The story follows Luke and Violet, Callie's roommate. The two meet when Violet jumps out of a window and hits Luke in the face. They both don't want to be together, however, they are attracted to each other and keep running into each other.

At first, I didn't like Violet. I think it was because of her attitude towards everything. Even though I knew why she acted the way she did, I still didn't like her. As she started to change while she spent more time with Luke, I started to like her more and more until I couldn't put the book down.

I loved the writing style and the plot of the story. I liked that it was from Luke and Violet's point of view, so the reader was able to gain an insight into both their lives. Even though I loved the story, there was still some things that I didn't like.

First, there was hardly any Callie and Kayden in the book, and Seth and Grayson were there only towards the end. So, a lot of the story was just Violet and Luke's back story and how they kept meeting. I also thought everything happened kind of fast. It seemed like if I wasn't getting one of their back stories, it would just be them together. I wish more would have happened than just that.

I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you liked the other two books in the series. If you wanted to skip Callie and Kayden's books, you probably could, but you see the other characters more in that one, so you would be able to understand who everyone is more. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I am excited to see what happens next.

"I've never wanted anything more. Until now."
In this "continuation" of the Callie and Kayden series, we meet Kayden's best friend Luke and Callie's roommate Violet. Both come from horrible backgrounds- Luke's being his father walked out on him, his mother and sister when he was little and Luke was left to help his mother shoot up because she was afraid of needles.
Violet's parents were murdered while Violet hid in the toybox in the basement when she was a child. Shuffled from foster home to foster home, Violet grew up counting on no one but herself, and also showing absolutely no emotion.
Both Luke and Violet connect and slowly but surely start to trust each other and give in to their sexual tension, but just when they are about to fully commit to each other as a couple, Luke reveals something that has Violet running away from him.
This book was the slowest moving book I have ever read, so slow that I picked up an old favorite and read it in between chapters of this book.
If this was supposed to be a continuation of an already established series, I think the author missed the point, since her main characters had little to no interaction with Callie and Kayden.
Another issue I had with this book was the fact that the main characters clearly had issues of their own, Luke was an alcoholic, and Violet was an adrenaline junkie- something that if their friends actually cared about them, would have sought getting them some help, but that was not the case in this book.
This book lends nothing to the series and can be skipped altogether.
