ʻProficient writing, an inventive plot, and Evans’ usual well-crafted procedural detail, make this sixth entry in the Rafferty series a good choice for those who can’t get enough of British coppers.’

A Little Laughter. A Little Mayhem. A Little MURDER…

*
Detective Inspector Joe Rafferty manages to become chief suspect in his own double murder investigation. And all he’d been doing was looking for love…
*
It had been his sergeant's wedding that had brought home to him that, far from still being the 'Jack the Lad' of old, he was not only lonely, but in danger of turning into a sad old git. So, with his fortieth birthday on the horizon, he decides it's time to take the initiative.
*
To this end, he signs up with the Made in Heaven dating agency. Wary of his colleagues discovering his shameful secret, he persuades his more up-market cousin to let him borrow his ID. It's just unfortunate that the first two women with whom he strikes up a rapport should wind up murdered, and with himself – or rather his alter ego – in the frame for the crimes.
*
Put in charge of the double murder investigation, Rafferty foresees plenty of difficulties ahead. Not least how he is to conduct the case without the witnesses pointing the finger, and saying 'But that's him. That's Nigel Blythe. The murderer!'

Dying for You British Detectives Rafferty Llewellyn Book 6 edition by Geraldine Evans Literature Fiction eBooks

This 6th book in Geraldine Evan's Rafferty and Llewellyn series was a good read. Not only is the reader treated to a few good murders but also to a closer look at Rafferty's character. I won't detail the plot; many reviewers have already done that.
This is what sets this book apart from the others in the series so far: Rafferty struggles with a significant personal problem that puts him in direct conflict with the murders he's investigating. I enjoyed watching how he handled the situation and I think his actions are believable. He's become a flawed, tragic hero in my eyes: the for whom one you cheer.
If you are interested in reading a well-written mystery as well as a story where the protagonist sorts through conscience and other human qualities, I think you'll enjoy Dying For You.

Keeps you guessing all the way to the end. Too many suspects and motives but the real one is a surprise
I liked the main character in this book. He is like a hundred people I know, so he was very real to me. It held my attention to the very end. It really was a surprise ending.
I started reading these stories because they were fun. This one had funny moments but the slap stick didn't really go well with murdered women.
I've read the whole series. Recommend highly!
6th in the series and the 6th -- and last one-- I will bother with. Rafferty is still a jumble of contradictions and Llewellyn is still a long-suffering cipher/ foil. I don't like mysteries that require leaps of faith, ephiphanies, lucky coincidences -- and all of the plots in this series are solved that way. I think I prefer procedurals or at least a lead detective who uses logic rather than intuition.
I love Joe Rafferty in all his imperfection. I gave this one 3 out of 5 stars only because I had it figured out almost from the beginning...predictable and for the fact it was somewhat unbelievable that he could go so long without being found out and then get out of it all.
This is a series, which I'm enjoying very much, because the author is indeed a great writer. Geraldine Evans achieves a comedic plot, on a seriouscontemporary problem. I literally laughed out loud, and dropped my kindle several times. Dying for you, should be translated to a screenplay, which would engage the audience in laughter, and remain curious about about the identity of the murderer.
